Brandon Cunningham likes to “rock the party” and “play music”. I’m not positive what rock the party means, but I know what it means to play music. This he does in fact do. He tagged his music as folk, hope, love, and rock (twice) on BandCamp.
I’m a big fan of songs broken into two parts, and so I was immediately pleased by the organization of Brandon Cunningham’s LP which begins with “Lines And Erasers (Part 1) and Lines And Erasers (Part 2). The tracks flow into each other well, and they are both quite uplifting.
You can download “Love” and “Hope Invades” for free. The beauty of BandCamp is that you can stream all you want for free and not have to buy anything, but if the artists are making things free, it does make them feel good when you download a song or two.
Brandon Cunningham would encourage you to come to his record release show on January 15th. It starts at seven at Sam’s Burger Joint Music Hall on Grayson Street, and it costs seven dollars. The Fishermen, Panic The Brave, and Deer Vibes are also playing that show.
I really don’t know what to call this besides adult contemporary. Maybe you’d like to bring some more genre labels into the discussion. Personally, I don’t think that categorization into genres means a thing, but it does give you something to talk about. Listen to Brandon Cunningham’s music and decide for yourself what you want to call it.
